FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to all the most common questions.

  • What is a Life Plan Community?

Formerly a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), a Life Plan Community is where individuals, 62 years of age or better, can enjoy private, maintenance-free residences on an amenity-filled campus with the assurance that, if needed, exceptional healthcare is available. Home care, assisted living, memory care, care management services, rehabilitation, and both short- and long-term skilled nursing care are all on site. A portion of your Entrance Fees and Monthly Service Fees at Plymouth Harbor cover the benefit of 30 days of skilled nursing each year in a semi-private room.

  • What are the apartments like at Plymouth Harbor?

You can select a Tower or Garden residence ranging from 500 to 2,200 square feet, and many residences offer spectacular water views. Make yourself at home by furnishing and decorating your apartment to your tastes. Customizations and upgrades are available for an additional fee.

  • What kind of dining do you offer?

Residents participate in a dining program and can dine a la carte in the Mayflower Restaurant enjoying daily specials and a full bar. The daytime dress code is resort casual, and the dinner dress code is elegant casual. Jackets and tie are not required.

  • What does it cost to live at Plymouth Harbor?

While many people think Life Plan Communities are expensive, the reality is that the cost of living at Plymouth Harbor is often comparable to the cost of maintaining your own home because so many additional home expenses – like utilities, maintenance, and housekeeping – are covered by your monthly fees. We have a variety of apartment sizes and styles that suit many budgets.

Plymouth Harbor’s Entrance Fees and Monthly Service Fees correlate to apartment size and location. Please contact our Marketing Office at (941) 361-7512 for specific pricing information.

Monthly fees are typically adjusted annually to help us maintain the level of service our residents expect while compensating for inflation and operating cost changes.

  • What does the monthly fee cover?

The Monthly Service Fees include all interior and exterior maintenance, lawn care and landscaping, local telephone, cable, internet and WiFi, water, sewer, electricity, weekly housekeeping and linen services, regularly scheduled local transportation, an emergency communication system and 24/7 on site security. The fee also covers wellness programs, community activities and entertainment and the use of the campus amenities. The fee increases slightly for double occupancy.

  • Do you have a gym and pool?

Yes, but our wellness programs are more than just a gym and pool. Plymouth Harbor believes in a whole-person approach to wellness and offers art, dance, woodworking, and classes such as Aqua fit, Tai Chi, and Sit Fit to encourage residents to maintain their broad interests and healthy lifestyles.

Our full-time wellness professionals conduct a fitness assessment with each resident and then offer fitness recommendations and an orientation to our exercise equipment. Options abound for fitness buffs and hobbyists alike, or residents who simply enjoy the Wellness Center for its complimentary chair massages and social gatherings near the coffee station in the Wellness Commons.

  • Why should I make a move if I’m still healthy and active?

That is the best time to make a move! Living at Plymouth Harbor will free you from the worries and responsibilities of maintaining your own home, so you have time to do the things you always wanted to do. If you wait until you need assistance, you may miss out on the many joys of active retirement living.

  • Is there a Residents Association?

Yes. Plymouth Harbor’s Residents Association is active in most aspects of community life and represents the views and concerns to the administration and management. The president, vice president, and past-president of the Residents Association also serve as voting members of Plymouth Harbor’s Board of Trustees.

  • Do residents pay taxes and insurance?

Plymouth Harbor pays the property taxes and insures the building and grounds; however, residents will need to obtain a renter’s insurance policy to cover personal property and liability.

  • Who owns Plymouth Harbor?

Plymouth Harbor, Inc. is a self-incorporated, not-for-profit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees and managed by our professional staff.

  • Can residents bring their cars?

Yes! We have transportation available for residents who do not drive but encourage you to keep driving as long as you can do so safely. We have several parking options for a small monthly fee. Residents may choose from carport or uncovered parking, and garage spaces are available on a wait list basis. Electric vehicle owners may request an EV charging station parking space.

  • Can residents have pets?

While Plymouth Harbor has a “No Pets” policy, we allow Assistance Animals to those with a disability as defined by the Fair Housing Act and Service Animals that are specifically trained as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). An Assistance animal assists a person with physical, mental, and/or emotional disability. Ask us about the Assistance Animal application process.

  • Does Plymouth Harbor have a waiting list?

Yes, we do. We have two levels of membership that both require an application and a deposit. The first level of membership, our Early Advantage Premier Waitlist, places you on our list for an available apartment and allows you to take part in all community activities, giving you the opportunity to experience life at Plymouth Harbor before you move in. The second level of membership, our Harbor Club, places you on our list for an available apartment and allows you to make reservations and bring guests to enjoy our dining venues using a credit card. For information about joining our waitlist, please contact the Marketing office at (941) 361-7512.

  • What happens to my initial deposit?
