Plymouth Harbor on Sarasota Bay: Bridge

The Faces of Plymouth Harbor

WHERE CULTURE AND COMMUNITY CONVERGE

Founded in 1966, Plymouth Harbor has become the area’s premier not-for-profit life plan community, providing residents with the most positive aging experience, keeping the “cup always half full.”

Carol Beeler

Raised in the suburbs of New York City, Carol Beeler developed a love for the arts. She also grew to respect the power of education.

“Education is the name of the game for everybody,” she offers. Now in Sarasota, Carol unites these passions by mentoring students in the all-important area of life skills through programming offered at the West Coast Black Theater.

When it came to taking the next step in her retirement plan, she chose Plymouth Harbor.

The continuing care offered appealed to her as much as its celebrated culture of supporting engaged, active lifestyles. “Life is what I make of it. The cup is always half full for me.” She’s found that attitude abounds in her new home on Sarasota Bay.

Judi & Peter Wasserman

With their former lives in Manhattan and Palm Desert, Judi and Peter have lived a life steeped in the arts.

Judi, with her background in owning an art gallery, and Peter, with his career on the New York Stock Exchange, have always sought out cultural experiences. Their move to Sarasota continued this tradition. Involvement with the Van Wezel became a natural. “It’s like having Broadway in your back yard,” says Judi.

When it came time to choose their retirement community, Plymouth Harbor stood out.

The community’s celebrated culture of active living, paired with its continuing care services, was exactly what they were looking for. “Plymouth Harbor is a remarkable place,” shares Judi. “With so many talented residents and endless cultural opportunities, there was no other option.”

Richard March

At the forefront of nuclear engineering in the early 1950s, Richard March carved out a distinguished career in the Nuclear Navy.

Alongside him was his late wife, Helen, whose passion for ballet connected them to the spirit of Sarasota’s cultural scene. After retiring, Richard became deeply involved with The Sarasota Ballet, where he served as a Board member and President of the Friends of The Sarasota Ballet.

When they chose Plymouth Harbor as their retirement destination, it was more than just a home—it was a continuation of their active, culturally-rich lifestyle.

At Plymouth Harbor, Richard’s contributions are many, particularly through Ballet on the Bay, an event he helped establish that brings The Sarasota Ballet to perform at Plymouth Harbor with Sarasota Bay as the backdrop.
